Today I am posting about my latest transaction. This transaction is a bullish option trade on BGS. The options I BTO are the $35 August 17, 2013 Calls. Normally, one would want to buy the options ITM to take advantage of the immediate leverage. Unfortunately, I am playing with a minimal amount of free cash so OTM Calls were my only choice.
The trade processed as the second half of a contingency trade. When BGS traded above $29, I bought the options at $0.10 per contract share ($10/option) . I chose the $35 strike because my target for BGS within the next couple months is about $32. And the available intervals for the August Calls are $2.50 apart.
My plan is that when it breaks $32 I am taking the money and walking. I think this is likely. I probaly should have set my purchas for $0.05 per contract share as the following day that was the last purchase price, putting me behind already. I still thik profit is possible. That's my opinion. What's yours?

Portfolio Update: Catching up.
So here is the update. In my last post I wrote about rolling my call option on SAND. Since then I have allowed the option to expire worthless. My reasoning being that I lost my faith in it and I want to increase the payouts of my dividend schedule plan further. Because of that I used all further funds in the account to buy more shares in my current positions. But I also sold my position in a low yield stock that I held.
On the 23rd of November, I sold my shares of YUM because I believe the yield is too small for the dividend schedule plan I have for my portfolio. For my plan to work I need bigger payouts. These payouts and the additional funds from the sale of YUM stock will help to accelerate the purchase of more shares of the same stocks I currently hold and a few others I want to add to my portfolio.
On the 27th of November, I bought shares of JNJ. This purchase increased my dividend payout for the third phase of every quarter, which is currently the weaker of the three phases. It also increased my current position of JNJ, a stock I already own.
On the 21st of December, the SAND $15.00 Call option expired worthless. This was a disappointment. I believe the failure is that I bought into it being a cheaper play on gold while gold has been on a three month down trend that has yet to reverse. The hustle over gold might be over since the Mayan Apocalypse didn't happen and there might have been a lot of gold investors who believed in that foolishness.
On the 28th of December, I bought shares of PG. This purchase increased my dividend payout for the second phase of every quarter, the second weakest of the three phases. It also increased my current position of PG, a stock I already own.
The three phases of every quarter are much closer together in strength, now, but maintain their sequential order of strength. My available funds have almost all been depleted as I wait for a scheduled order to be triggered. I will be continuing to fund the account with cash from my day job and monitoring the market for additional investments to add to my portfolio.
That is my opinion, you can take it or leave it. Disclaimer: See bottom of page. http://investorsopinion.blogspot.com

Portfolio Update: Option Rolled
In my effort to keep this blog up to date with my trade activity, I have something I need to report. This week, on the 13th of November, I rolled over my SAND option position. The action of rolling simply means that I swapped one position for another with a later expiration, sometimes also changing the strike price and/or direction.
Prior to this change, I held the SAND Nov 17 2012 15.00 Call. I rolled it over into the SAND Dec 22 2012 15.00 Call. This was at a cost to me of an additional $46.32 after all fees and commissions were applied. So I will be looking for a brake-even point of $1.52 per contact share or better.

Portfolio Update: Long Over Due
It has, once again, been too long since my last post. In the time that has passed there have been seven changes to my portfolio. I have made 5 purchases, 1 sale, and had an option position expire on me. The 4 of the 5 purchases and the one sale were strategic moves to my portfolio. The remaining 1 purchase and option expiration are my speculation plays.
To start I BTO additional shares in my ETP position. This purchase added to my dividend payout for the second phase of each quarter. This was done on the 3rd of October.
On the 8th of October, I BTO a SAND Nov 17 2012 $15 Call option position. This was done as my speculation play. Unfortunately, I have to admit that the decision to get in was poorly timed and selected. I should have waited for the pull back and then choose an expiration further out. As of this post, it is in the red but seems to be showing signs of improvement. I will be holding it until my profitable sale trigger is hit or it's expiration, which is a week away from this post.
On the 19th of October, my speculation play for FB Oct 20 2012 $15 Put options locked and expired. This was again an unfortunate speculation gone wrong. In hinds sight I should have taken my profits when I had them or probably should have chosen to purchase one option closer to the money instead of three so far out of the money. I still think FB is over-priced, but it seems that they are finally accepting that they have to make revenue in order to attract investors and are making changes that will actually create revenue even at the expense of loosing some of there ~1 billion users.
On the 31st of October, I STC my entire position of DE. I made this decision because DE did not fit the minimum yield requirement of my strategy of holding high dividend yielding stocks. Fortunately, I was able to get out with a very small profit.
On the 2nd of November, I BTO additional shares in two of my existing positions, T and VZ. These purchases added to my dividend payout for the second phase of each quarter. As a result I am almost 70% of my phase one dividend payouts, which are currently the largest.
Finally on the 7th of November, I BTO additional shares in my MCD position. This purchase added to my dividend payout for the third phase of each quarter. As a result I am almost 50% of my phase one dividend payouts.
Despite the fact that falling over the "Fiscal Cliff" will result in an increase of the dividend tax rate, I am not going to change my core strategy of building a portfolio of dividend paying stocks. My portfolio is not currently generating enough income to alter my effective tax rate significantly. I will, however, use the fear in the market to build up my positions.

Portfolio Update
Since my last portfolio update, I have only one change to document. On Wednesday, the 29th of August, I added to my JNJ position. This purchase occurred near the first Fibonacci extension level from it's most recent high. Since then, JNJ has already bounced back up and closed above my purchase price for this position.
As confirmation of my plans for future purchases, I will be focused on adding to my current positions. The speculation portion of my portfolio continues to be put positions against FB as I didn't sell when my principle was doubled at the beginning of August. Although FB didn't rebound much before starting to go down again. Because it's price is eroding so slowly, I have also watched the value of my puts erode as well. I personally believe FB has much more to go down (Facebook Not Remotely Worth 38$) so I might be able to regain some profitable value before their October expiration. That is my opinion, you can take it or leave it. Disclaimer: See bottom of page. http://investorsopinion.blogspot.com

Portfolio Update
I have made a few changes to my portfolio over the past, almost, two months. The first set of changes were made on the 27th of July as I STC my ZNGA position for a loss that I could not bare to see grow any further, as well as my CIM position for the same reason. I need more profitable choices in my portfolio that will pay me dividends while growing or at least hold on to their value. But since speculating keeps me attentive to the market I will do it with options. This way, while I can see more exciting gains from option trades, I can narrowly define my losses better. So for longer term purchases I will be buying stocks, and for excitement trade options.
With the cash I freed by STC my ZNGA and CIM positions, I first BTO, as a trade, Puts against FB. My reasons being that I don't see them bottoming at this current time and that I believe the lockout which expires this week will result in an even lower price. Next I BTO a position into AGNC another REIT with growth and a better dividend than CIM and it's commercial counter-part NLY. These trades were made on the same 27th of July
Finally, on the 8th of August I BTO a position in ETP. I believe the price has become low enough that the dividend yield is too attractive not to buy. I want to continue to add to this position as time goes by but the majority of my free cash is not allocated for positions in a few other stocks to balance out my monthly dividend payout strategy. I will allocate more cash to purchase ETP and the other dividend paying stocks in my portfolio as the capital gets added from my day job. That is my opinion, you can take it or leave it. Portfolio Update
I am a little behind schedule on reporting my portfolio updates. Since my last update, I have changed some of my opinions a little. I have also added to my account so that I have some additional cash to invest.
First, I have restarted auto deposits into my investing account and my IRA. Both of which are under-funded. I especially have a lot of catching up to do in my IRA. However, further information about that is outside the scope of this post.
Second, I STC my puts against FB. The result was that I raked in ~37% profit on that short trade.
Lastly, I then took the profit and the capital that I had pending for one of my other dividend paying stock picks, CNK, and added to my already existing positions of JNJ and PG. I then re-evaluated the chart for CNK and decided to buy a third of the shares I was planning on at the higher price it was currently around. Unfortunately, CNK has declined a little since I BTO the position today. I am still currently satisfied with my positions. That is my opinion, you can take it or leave it. Portfolio Update
Since my last update where I purchased shares in ZNGA, it has tragically declined. However, as one of my few speculation plays, I intend on adding to my position if there next earnings report, indicates improvements I can believe as reasonable expectations.
Also, since my last update I purchased shares of YUM, as it finally came down enough to trigger my limit order. Now I only have one more stock to buy that rounds out my dividend strategy. It, however, seems to be resisting the market pressures better than I expected.
In the mean time I have taken advantage of the opening of FB on the option market to buy put options against it. I am extremely disappointed in its extreme over-valuation. I am expecting continued declines into the low 20s, if not further. That is my opinion, you can take it, or leave it. Disclaimer: See bottom of page. http://investorsopinion.blogspot.com

Portfolio Update
It has been about a month since my last post. Since them I made a few portfolio changes. This post covers them and a few thoughts.
On January 12th, I STC my IWM position to get my cash back in my trading account. I did this because I want the equity percentage of my trading account to be heavier with high dividend paying stocks and not just the general market. I opened BTO orders for these high dividend paying stocks on steep pull backs since they are running to strong for me to chase them. I am adjusting this BTO prices every night as they make new highs.
Since I STC 99% of my ZNGA position, it has rebounded, dived and bounced back with a vengeance to and above the price I originally bought my position. This is despite them being outed for their copycat strategy of taking the idea of an already existing game, re-skinning the interface with only slight changes, and calling it their own. (http://tinyurl.com/7rpxgq7) Now, I don't know if they copied the code also, but the game-play is reported to be the same as well. I speculate that this could become a cause for a class-action suite against them for theft of intellectual property. This make's me hesitant to get back into it since I don't have the time to watch the stock all day. I decided to sell a Cash-Secured Put to buy back in if it falls below $9 by Feb 18th. I certainly don't want to buy back in at this time after losing out on all the upside it has already had.
Over the past month I also received dividends for CIM, IWM, and TLT. With the sale of IWM I am no longer qualified for any more IWM dividends after this point. CIM still continues to pay out the mass majority of it's earnings, unfortunately the earnings are still quite small at this time and it's price is below where I BTO. I will not be buying any more CIM until I see it promise better earnings. My TLT position is slightly dropping in cash value, reducing my portfolios position in treasury bonds. However, I will not be BTO more TLT until it drops even more.
That is my opinion, you can take it or leave it. Disclaimer: See bottom of page. http://investorsopinion.blogspot.com

Portfolio Update: Put Exercised
As of this post, the weekend past was option expiration and my CIM put options for the 4$ strike was exercised against my cash. This put's me in at a 55 cent per share loss, less that cost of the premium that I collected for the option. Although this is an initial negative, I am satisfied with the result. The result being that my total position is now 400 shares and I can adjust my option order for the 4.50$ December calls from 1 contract to 4 contracts. I will also be increasing my limit for the STO order to 25 cents per contract share which is a net of about 92$ if it gets purchased. Not to mention I get to hold onto an expected 56$ after the next dividend payout between now and December. That is my opinion, you can take it or leave it. Putting Myself Into A Position
I am really liking the idea of buying low and selling high. I even like it more with the extra income that comes along with selling options against my cash, which then puts me in or calls me out of a position.
On Thursday I STO three options against my cash for the obligation to buy 300 shares of CIM in the event that it does not break back above 4$ a share before the June expiration date. I think this is a fairly good deal seeing as the company pays out a hefty dividend and shows earnings that can actually support it. As a matter of fact I currently own 100 shares because I did a single order over a month ago.
It is my expectation that I will probably not get put into the 300 share position of CIM since there is so much time between now and the June expiration for those options. But, as always, time will tell. That is my opinion, you can take it or leave it. Disclaimer: See bottom of page. http://investorsopinion.blogspot.com

Late Portfolio Update
Life sometimes just gets in the way. Sometimes it is welcomed, but still a distraction. Anyway, I am back, and here is my update. My CPLP Call was executed and my shares called away. Also, my CIM Put was executed and 100 shares were put to me.
With the clearing of those transactions I have already STO one Put option against my cash to re-enter a position of CPLP. I am currently waiting to see how my two open orders against my shares of DWA and CIM work out. I hesitate to believe that I will be seeing premium for these two orders this month, but DWA is looking like something is about to happen and CIM is already climbing back up. With 18 days left, time will tell. That is my opinion, you can take it or leave it. Disclaimer: See bottom of page. http://investorsopinion.blogspot.com/

Portfolio Update
Another month has passed and I am still in my current positions. This I find to be a success, with a bit of unexpected annoyance. I truly believed DWA would have gone up in the passed month, resulting in me being called out of my position. However, it has continued to slide lower and brought down the value of my position. The good news is that I am free to sell another option against it. Sadly though, at a lower premium than I would have liked. I still believe it to be a strong company with a lot of upside potential, although it is being depressed by the economic situation hindering the usage of an individuals discretionary funds for recreation purposes.
On the other hand, CPLP has maintained a relatively high evaluation these passed weeks in response to the Egypt and Lybia news. Despite the news causing it to hold this relatively high evaluation, it did not breach and hold above the $10 strike price of the option I sold against my position. As a result, that option expired worthless this weekend, freeing me to sell against my position again.
I'm looking to find another stock I can sell a Put option against my available cash. I want this stock to have a dividend that I can collect in the event that the option gets exercised and I have to purchase it. Currently all that I have on my watchlist have either suspended their dividend or require more cash than I have available. I will update in the event that I find one.

Year In Review and Looking Forward
With a new year should come a moment of reflection on ones past and contemplation on the future. The same should be said about ones investing. In light of that, here is my year in review and my plan for the coming year.
Last year I opened and closed a total of 28 positions. Out of the 28 positions, 15 of them resulted in profits and 13 of them resulted in loses. This tells me that I am just barely better than 50% right. Unfortunately, when my choices are bad, they are really bad. My 15 profitable choices only earned me $764.25, while my 13 losers has cost me $1,538.68. That results in a net loss of $774.43. And on top of that, some of it cannot be written off because they qualify as wash-sales.
The reasons vary for my bad performance. Some were because of poor analysis, some because I got greedy and didn't take the profit when I had the chance; some because I didn't set my entries or stops properly. This year I have to pick a plan and stick with it. As a result of my getting out of debt last year, I now have extra capital I can devote to my portfolio.
The plan for this year is as follows:

The plan for this year is as follows:
- Only pick from stocks that have options; being a dividend paying stock is a plus.
- Sell cash secured put options for the stocks that I would like to own.
- For stocks I own, sell call options against them at a price higher than I BTO.

Portfolio Update
Yet another day where I wish I didn't have to work until 30 minutes after the market opens. Today I BTO a position of 3 QQQQ 20110122 $53 put options. And of course getting into this position occurs after QQQQ gaps down and then retraces back up during the day. It was still a down day for QQQQ, so this could just be one of those annoying days. I have my stop put in just in case. We will see how it turns out.

Portfolio Update
For today I had a contingency order to BTO 3 contracts of the SLV 20110122 $28 calls if SLV broke above $27.21. It was my intent to buy them at no more than $1.71 per contract share. To my disappointment, SLV opened on a gap up of $0.65, climbed up as high as $28.72 and then came crashing down to $25.85 before closing at $26.18. As a result, the option position I made the order for executed on the down move and is currently ~22% in the hole. I don't want to lose much more, so I have an order to STC my position if it drops another 3% to under $1.28 per contract share.
On the positive side, I have a paper gain of 22% on my UNG call option position that I BTO yesterday. Unfortunately it still isn't enough for my stop order to STC at a profit. I will still have to wait and see.

Portfolio Update
With the weather starting to cool off in North America, I figure it is about time that the demand for natural gas should start to "heat up" so-to-speak. Surprising enough, on Monday, the very first day I placed the order for, UNG broke above my contingency price of $5.84 on pretty strong volume, although the price only gaped up and then climbed a little higher.
Anyway, as a result, my BTO for 5 contracts of the UNG 20110122 $6 calls was executed at the price of $0.39. Now all I am waiting to see is if it will maintain this upward move towards and above $6. If it doesn't I will have to STC at a loss of since my trailing stop on the price is well below my entry point. But still better to loose a little than to loose the entire position. Portfolio Update and Option Picks
An interesting day in my portfolio. With today's bullish performance of the indices, I was stopped out of one position, but not the one I though I would be. Instead of me being stopped out of BRKS, I was stopped out of BAC. My BAC Oct 16 2010 $15.00 put stopped out at $1.50 for a 16% lose before commissions. After the weak movement that occurred on the day I entered the position I started to suspect that this could happen. I am thinking that the trend is changing. I believe I will look into a long call position.
Other possible trades I am looking into are AMD for long puts and AMR, BRCD, and UNG for long calls. That is my opinion, you can take it or leave it. Disclaimer: See bottom of page. http://investorsopinion.blogspot.com/

Portfolio Update
Today, I entered two option trades. The first was 5 C Nov 20 2010 $4.00 calls at $0.25 after C climbed over $4.10. I followed this entry with a stop of $0.18 to minimize my losses to approximately 25%. As of the close. I am still in the trade but only by $0.01 as the close was at $0.19.
The second trade was 3 BRKS Nov 20 2010 $5.00 puts at $0.20 after BRKS dropped below $6.49. I am following this entry with a stop of $0.15 to minimize my loses to about 25%. I have concerns that I was the only player on this trade. And although the underlying stock moved in my favor, unlike C, I might get stopped out before it really has a chance to move due to the wide spread in the option bid and ask prices and the low volume.
My previously entered trades are still open. My long BAC Oct 16 2010 $15.00 put is not yet profitable but the underlying is going in my favor. My short CPLP Dec 18 2010 $7.50 puts are continuing to hold since there seem to be buyers of them at higher prices than I sold sold mine despite the underlying has been relatively flat for weeks. I still want the stock if it drops to $7.50 so I am in no rush to BTC my position. However, if it does clime towards $10, I have an order to sell a short term call at the $10 strike. That is my opinion, you can take it or leave it. Disclaimer: See bottom of page. http://investorsopinion.blogspot.com

Portfolio Update
It has been a while since I have made so many posts in one week. Last night I decided to put in an OTO trade order for a BAC October 16 2010 $15 put option. The first half was a BTO order at a limit of $1.90 and the second half was a STC order at a stop of $1.43, which is approximately 25% below the limit price. The first half was executed, but because of the good day in the market today and BAC going back up to fill the small gap it produced the day before, I got in at $1.79. Throughout the rest of the day I lost another $0.29, which is not enough to trigger my STC stop order. If the stop is triggered on the penny, I will loose only about 20%. I have been doing so bad on my past few trades I am going to leave that stop in place and wait to see how things fair when the market opens Monday. That is my opinion, you can take it or leave it.
